Redact PDF

Hide personal data, account numbers or confidential text before sharing a document. Unlike a simple black box, the hidden content is truly removed.

Pages you redact are converted into images, so the covered text is permanently deleted. On those pages, the remaining text can no longer be selected or searched.

Your files stay on your device. Processing happens entirely in your browser.

How to Redact PDF

  1. Choose or drop a PDF file.
  2. Drag black boxes over everything you want to hide.
  3. Click "Redact and save" and download the redacted PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can the hidden text be recovered?

No. Pages with redactions are rebuilt as images with the black boxes burned in, so the original text is gone from those pages.

Why can't I select text on redacted pages?

Because they are images now. Pages without redactions keep their original, selectable text.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Redaction happens in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
